The relations between Nazi Germany and Switzerland during WW2 were, ah, complicated. The Swiss were happily selling ammunition and guns to the Nazis up until about 5 minutes before the armistice. WTH, they got paid. At one point, Herr Hitler DID consider - seriously - invading Switzerland. The Swiss national legislature mobilized that citizen army (can anyone say "militia"?) and elected a general (they have one only when war is expected and during wartime. Now what would really have happened had the Wehrmacht come tearing in is a good guess. But Herr Hitler suddenly realized he was facing an organized group of armed trained men that were a fair fraction of the Wehrmacht in number. And the terrain was formidable. He decided invading Switzerland was a bad idea.
