As a professional trader I would never EVER invest in a Cramer tout, unless I had researched the company and also liked the chart. However, I do day trade, and so go long and short substantial shares based on real time chart movement.
So I agree with your question as to why SBS would be a good investment. I don't look at it as an investment, but might swing trade it if the volume and price action present an attractive reward/risk.
Cheers
Ron

Well said David, thanks.

There are two primary reasons why I'm quick to agree with him on SBS.

First, I have done a fair amount of research regarding the water industry. I'm a bull re water for many years to come. (I can point you to much of that research if you're interested.)

Second, their chart does not give me that 'late-to-the-ballgame' feeling that many of Cramer's other picks elicit.

It should be noted that I spend more time pouring through charts each day than I do reading text. After doing so for many years, one's interpretation of technicals becomes largely intuitive. The chart and volume pattern for SBS just plain looks good. I could attempt to itemize all the reasons why I feel this way, but unless I'm specifically asked to do so, I don't feel that it is altogether necessary.

Having said all that, your points re a propensity for corporate malfeasance when it comes to latin american stocks (or for that matter, any foreign issues) are well taken.

Thanks for that informative post. It takes living in a place to really know the political climate. The stock actually looks good on paper but your information is more viable.

update: SBS 15.0
stockcharts.com[w,a]daclyiay[pc40!c200!f][vc60][iut!La12,26,9!Ll14]&pref=G

Chart has nearly gone down the toilet. Price is now about a dollar less than it was upon Cramer's reco.

Once again, I appreciate your skepticism.
