Isreal will clear and level a buffer zone in southern Lebanon.

What will be the point of this "buffer zone"? It will not stop missiles and it will not stop the Hezbollah from hijacking Israeli soldiers. And how do you imagine the land "cleared and leveled" of its civilian population?

Hezbollah opened a Pandora's box when they crossed the border and murdered 8 Isreali soldiers, kidnapping 2 others. That is a clear act of war. Isreal's response was to be expected.

I will not debate how just this war is. I can say some things about that too but for now my argument is that the objectives of the war are unattainable while the blood spilled is innocent.

Bush will not stop support of Isreal. They are going to kill anyone who puts up a fight.

At some point he will. The question is only how many will die to bring him to do so. You can not kill any one who puts up a fight. That is the way of the dictator. I believe what the Arabs really want is respect. Until they get it they will fight to the death. You see, life with no respect is not worth living. The only way to forget that is to take respect for granted.

I am not for Isreal or Lebanon. I just see the writing on the wall. Hezbollah was incredibly dumb for instigating this and now the Lebanonese will pay for supporting them. It's sad about the kids dying. War is hell. I am sure the families of those 8 murdered soldiers feel the same way.

I too am not for Isreal or Lebanon. I am for reason. And it is not war that is hell. It is a stupid war that is hell.

Where were all the fathers anyway?

I believe most where sleeping next door and died with their children. It is a shame we count the life of a child more then the life of an adult. Why won't we try and stop this for everyone sake?

YanivBA.

JQP re Lebanon, Hezbulla etc.

The last time Israel got in a prolonged fight with Hezbulla they got badly mauled and had to withdraw as the mountain of body bags soured the Israeli public. Israel is now talking a month or longer to accomplish the buffer zone. The Arab world will not tolerate the civilian death toll and that amount of TV time. Israel has badly miscalculated. The US as sponsor to the Israeli strategy has no choice but to immediately change course or become irrelevant to the course of a major historical shift in Near East power balance and it's effect on energy supplies and the world economy.
