Eric,

Re: Nothing Unusual about Blecker's Options

With respect to your "trivia" point regarding Blecker selling 1/3 of his his stock, I see no evidence of that from the Vicker's website. I did a search on Vicker's going back to 1st of year. As of last transaction (Aug. 9), Blecker does not seem to be deviating at all from his pattern all year. That pattern is : 1) declare intention to sell on Form 144 each quarter, 2) excercise shares 2nd week of month, and 3) sell those shares the same day (presumably simultaneously).

Best,

BS

I can't help: So if Nokia has implemented its GSM power control (true: without patenting it) in a certain way long before Q filed its patent, Q's patent(s) is/are worthless, and can be ignored. Heck, in that case it was Q who stole the idea.

"As you've probably noticed the ETSI IP database is a bit tricky to search. Searching on the patent title 'Reverse Link, Transmit Power Correction' in that database turns up patent number 0695482 (European Patent Office, SPAIN, FRANCE, UNITED KINGDOM, ITALY, SWEDEN) ..."

European Patent 0695482 is no longer considered ESSENTIAL IPR.

"On 29 November 2006, Qualcomm Inc. has requested ETSI to withdraw the following IPR from the ETSI IPR Online Database: Patent No.: EP 0695482; Patent No.: DE 69520812.8; Patent No.: US 5,452,473; Patent No.: ZL95190118.4.

Qualcomm Inc. has been caused to re-examine thoroughly the essentiality of this patent family in the course of patent litigation and as a result does not consider that these patents are Essential IPRs.

Following this request, ETSI has removed the above mentioned Patent numbers from the above declaration.
"

From Qualcomm Inc. U.S. Patent 5,590,408 at webapp.etsi.org

As the FRAND argument then doesn't apply that might actually be to Qualcomm's advantage ... if Nokia indeed infringes.

The UK Patent Court has been thrown into disarray with the promotion of leading patent judge Mr Justice Pumfrey to the Court of Appeal.
