Then go fix the part of Medicare that isn't working but provide base level service to ALL. What is wrong with that?

We should obviously fix the part of Medicare that can't negotiate for lower drug prices. The doughnut hole is bizarre as is the physician propensity to prescribe drugs FOR EVERYTHING.

Have you listened to what some people take? They take one drug for some chronic ailment and another to counteract the side effects of the first one and then another to deal with other side effects and on and on. I had a physician who wouldn't let me leave without prescribing a raft of chemicals.

I never bothered to fill those prescriptions and sought out someone less stupid. I never saw any ill effects from NOT taking those drugs and I suspect the out-of-control drug industry is largely resonsible for such stupid and irresponsible physician behavior.

Medicare sets payment levels low enough that increasingly more providers refuse to take them.

As I understand it, health care providers don't have much of a problem with Medicare, it's Medicaid they don't like to take.

Then set the payments higher.

Or consider the fact that with the govt. as the single payer, docs can no longer opt out of system and must accept the payments they are offered or find new line of work...lol!!
