It is not free. The human cost of immigrating is immeasurable.

And the US needs immigrants (or population increase in other ways), otherwise some of the Ponzi scheme aspects of capitalism will make US Assets lose their value.

I believe there was some scheme by which 1 million investment in US would buy one a Green Card. It does not seem to have many takers. Probably because one could bribe an american citizen with $50,000 to have a fake marriage.
