Even at the risk of sounding stupid, may I ask what is "NBR" and what exactly was the news?

Michael Price lost a lot in this stock and is intimately familiar with CTYS' vulnerability. Long ago, I had a post telling that many of the WS guys who lost a lot were trying to short to recover their losses.
Given that Bear Stearns will be the official advisor, they can no longer be accused of colluding with CTYS management to rescue the stock.

>>-- NBR reported that CTYS was down on rumors that Michael Price was >>shorting the stock.

They reported a rumor sweeping the street that he was _selling_ not shorting the stock.

FWIW- He had big position in CTYS (See: Barrons Round Table)

>>And that CTYS has hired Bear Stearns to increase the value of the
>>company.

Later in the day, they report they had retained BS to advise them on strategic alternativess.

>>-- Like NBR indicated, much of the selling at this point is short >>selling.

There was no mention of this on NBR.
