Bill,

Re: "I hope it is 2 speed bins and closing."

Actually for most of this fall, it has been 3 speed bins because AMD
has had very poor yields ... it has only been recently that it is back
to 2 speed bins. I believe that for the .25um generation, Intel will
keep the 2 speed bin advantage and might move back to 3 speed bins.
Based on Intel releases, AMD will have to have the K6 running at 333mhz
to be just 2 speed bins behind in the June timeframe !! ... And this needs
to be in volume. AMD hasn't even started shipping any .25um K6's at any
speed.

Make It So,
Yousef

Bill,

Microchannel vs. Slot I:

I have noticed that you insisted on equating Slot I with Microchannel time after time. However, I am sure you know what Microchannel is for and what Slot I is for. Now, micrcochannel is like an AC power outlet with all sorts of appliances plugging into it; Slot I is like a cover of a pan (for cooking) with only one particular cover mating with this sauce pan.

I hope this helps.

John.

< I remain unconvinced that the slot 1 is anything more than a fenced back yard for Intel to play in.>

The GTL+ buffers on slot1/socket8 will scale to higher frequencies much easier that the S7 buffers will. If you can't see the difference than you don't know the difference.

<I recall the lineup of the rich and famous who came into IBMs little fenced off yard(Microchannel) for the same reason many years ago. >

Interesting how you used this analogy. Do you remember who lead the assult on microchannel? It was Intel and Compac with the introduction of EISA. Intel followed this up with the introduction of PCI. The continuation of S7 will be lead by such powerhouses as OPTI & SIS. Don't hold your breath.
