HPE is one of the MANY spinoffs of the original HP that came apart after Carly came on board.

I sold most of the original stock to buy some of the spinoffs like Keysight and Agilent... Wish I bought Avago that is now Broadcom but that was the part where I was when I left in 1998... Too many people were screwed by the VCs who took it private then IPO'd it... so it was personal and I thought best to avoid it. I bought shares in some of the others... one was a hardware tester company that was bought out for a nice gain. HPQ was spun off to make the PCs and printers and that is doing pretty well with COVID work and study at home demand.

My guess is they will keep a large presence here for those who already own homes here and don't want to move and give up their property tax base which can make it impossible to move back... but it was probably a huge recruiting problem to not be a "big name" like FB, Google, Tesla, etc. to attract top talent so they go where it is cheaper to live to compete for "regular" college grads.

As offered for a long time, I've asked Kirk to visit Texas and find out where reasonable living actually does exist.

I've heard the bit about turning a blue state red for about 4 years.

People find Texans very proud of their heritage.

It is contagious.

It is spacious.

It is warm.

Both fossil fuels and electricity are low cost compared to most.

There are no income taxes. Industry s flooding to Texas and housing although low cost is nicely advancing.

When a new neighbor moves to my community from the west or east coast, they usually buy the bigger homes on the water and proceed to gut the already very nice interior. Redoing all of the house in new colors fabrics, counter tops and cabinets, because they have so much money left over from their past home.

IT AIN"T ALL BAD!

Lots are bigger such that you can have flower and vegetable gardens and even afford to water them<smile>

Bob

I doubt that is true. I was stationed in Boise ID in the mid 90s. Hewlett packard and Micron were building up and I saw first hand the clashes as the California liberal transplants butted heads with the conservative ranchers, farmers etc.
My favorite was when some punk got shot after carjacking some old lady. Liberals were claiming brutality until it was disclosed he was a life term serial rapist/murderer that had escaped a Nevada prison.
