Seems Newsweek is practicing somewhat responsible journalism as a result of the white house counter attack. I suspect that Harold Ickes is behind many of these leaks. It seems to have been his MO in the past, and Lanny Davis has actually bragged about pulling off the same stunt in imitation of Harold with other 'crisis'. Or so I have read.

One other thing, many of these leaks are probably phoned in, ie no verification that the person is who they say they are on the phone. Fairly easy to orchestrate, even with second source requirements, from either side of the case.

>>This would perhaps fit in with the suppositions of some people on this thread that the White House is trying to get the bad news out in a way that they can possibly exert more control over it, and that Starr's office may be less guilty of leaking than they have been accused of lately

That and it also dovetails with their defamation campaign against Starr. The WH or their allies do the leaks and then blame Starr. The media generally reports the Clintonista charges without bothering to find out if they are true, leaving the public with the impression that Starr is behaving unfairly. Remember, Newsweek said the NYT's Currie story did not come from the IC side - but that crucial detail has not been widely disseminated.

BTW, Ginsburg will be laughed out of court. Kendall ditto. Nothing more than further proof of the coordinated propaganda/pr campaign against Starr and against getting at the truth.

Did anyone mention that the IC has someone that monitors his office for leaks? His name is Sam Dash, famed Watergate counsel and Georgetown University professor of law (and big time Dem). Dash holds the position of ethics advisor to Ken Starr. Most recently Dash was quoted as saying that Starr's only fault was that he was too cautious in his investigation.

Did anyone mention that most of the prosecutors/investigators working in the IC office are Dems? It's true. Was in Washington Post a couple of months ago but now conveniently disregarded.
