ADC Telecom gains 11% on talk Speculation surfaces about SBC contract award, takeover NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- Shares of ADC Telecommunications jumped 11 percent as investors speculated that the telecommunications equipment maker will get a huge contract from baby bell SBC Communications Inc., analysts said. Tim Luke, analyst at Lehman Brothers, said reports have circulated that the company's chief executive hinted at the contract award during talks with rival investment bank Bear, Stearns & Co. Bob Switz, chief financial officer at Minneapolis-based ADC (ADCT), declined comment on the SBC (SBC) contract, except to say his company had bid for multi-year deal. The talk at Bear Stearns "isn't any different from what we said two weeks ago" at a conference, Switz told CBS.MarketWatch.com. Bear Stearns telecommunications analyst Alex Cena wasn't available for comment on Thursday. Also driving the stock: speculation that the consolidation sweeping the telecommunication equipment companies will spread to ADC Telecom, which makes transmission products that send electronic signals over public networks. Two such equipment mergers have already been announced this month: Northern Telecom's (NT) acquisition of Bay Networks (BAY) and Tellabs' (TLAB) combination with Ciena (CIEN). chris

I just got off my butt and took a look at the Video on PLFM's UCAV "The Dolphin" ... quite the concept!! Has anyone asked about it's payload characteristics or planned operational capabilities (ie, performance specs,e tc)?? Just curious 'cause it's an exciting concept that could potentially bring PLFM into a US DoD contract position. Rory.
