Zeev,

Mostly agree with all your points but must question the correction scenario this fall. IMO, we are in the midst of a minor correction right now and before we head back up we may see 8300 on the Dow. A number of cos. have issued warnings for the first time and the Street is spooked. In addition, AG came out and hinted that he may need to raise rates. FWIW, I do not believe this for a minute. This is jawboning an extended market to levels he considers rational.

On another subject, I liquidated my WFR position earlier this year and was wondering what your thoughts were on this one. Do you still see 100 in 2000? With the delay of 300mm, this could be one of the last in the equipment group to recover.

BK

BTW, I like your scenario for the equipment group and the forward looking multiples. This market is becoming more forward looking every day, with the exception of this past week<GGG>. Additionally, the bar has been lowered to the groung for this group so when Asia does renew capex spending(It will, regardless of what the Bears say), we will see a dramatic reversal upwards of estimates.

That seems reasonable that the market will discount the probable earnings of the year 2000.

In the new issue of PC Week the editor mentions in passing that supply/demand equilibrium for memory chips is expected to be achieved mid 2000. Probably a good forecast but still surprising to see in print that memory prices (and profits) won't firm up for another 2 years! Of course Cymer sell into other markets, but no industry sucks up these photo-litho machines like memory makers.

Zeev, what about a major correction sooner than expected. Let's say in August. Your scenario makes sense but too many analysts anticipate a gloomy october and could be tempted to go out sooner. I agree with your analysis but could you explain your time table ?

TIA

Intel and others are saying that they are moving to .18 micron tech, ahead of schedual. So why is this stock going down??? And dont say, because the rest of the sector is in a down turn. Cymer has the most to gain from this and should have already recovered above 20 a long time ago. This just adds more proof that something is wrong that we are not aware of. Maybe you will get a chance to buy cymer bellow 8 some time soon.

Hello, Zeev

I just cruised the SI threads and posts of various technicians ... you are the most optimistic within the realistic regime and I tend to agree. Your turnips have interpretted AG in the same manner as I have. The media says that AG caused the market selloff last week, but from my perspective, if that were true ... then the market selloff would have commenced within minutes of AG's statements and not 1 1/2 hours later. AG is academic to the market macromovement at this point.
