Or are they just sitting there with their finger up their arses and come October 14th they will be blown away by Apple figures once again?

I would find this really troubling. If a bunch of semi-pro's (albeit an extraordinarily talented bunch of semi-pro's) on this thread can put together relatively accurate pictures of upcoming earnings, what does that say about those analysts following Apple who have been consistently surprised the last couple quarters? Their inability (or unwillingness?) to follow the story behind this stock only creates volatility. There are some here who feed on this volatility and become quite gorged doing it, but I'm not at all convinced that it is good for the stock long term.

I don't know what's going on, but I can dig Apple at $40.

Alomex, it seems hard to believe that analysts would screw up again but it does appear to me that once again 10,000+ blocks are on the sell side while retail blocks 2000- are on the buy side. I didn't watch the whole day, basically from 2:00 PM on so I missed the initial surge to 40 but still the impression I get is that what little institutional interest there is, is on sell side. While smart money hasn't been particularly smart about Apple, still it's got to make someone with a large position a little nervous. Well, if it was easy everyone would be doing it. Rich

Number 2!

Check the record of analysts on AAPL. They all seem predisposed to under estimate Apple Corp.

On the volume issue: AAPL was climbing during the last hour on low volume. That is good. Sellers are drying up. Buyers are still out there.

Alomex...Patience Butterfly, Patience. There is another world out there besides AAPL..It's called the overall market which is *Very Volatile* at present (Asia, Russia, Brazil, Banking, Potential Crash, etc.) the effects of which are demonstrated in the low trade volume, especially with GreenspanSpeak due tomorrow and possible Fed rate reduction (.25%? .50%? 75%? or 0%?). IMHO, a reduction of .25% is already priced into the market. If Greenspan drops the Fed rate .50% the market should have a slight rally. =========================== <I don't like the behaviour of Apple the stock. It seems that all the big players have taken their positions and are sitting on the sidelines. Volume is down from the begining of the month.>
