Dear J Galt,
First, I love the name having been enamoured with Atlas Shrugged, ayn Rand, and objectivism most of my life.
I know how you feel about MO. I have a few shares myself and have had it since around 1989. I intermittently fall in and out of love with MO. If it weren't to litigation, it might be the BEST single stock to have owned, other than maybe MSFT. The question is what to do now. I suspect that your cost basis is so low that you are still very profitable in your position even with the recent sell off. I have been tempted to liquidate the position, BUT they are still paying and increasing the dividend, and buying back stock. It is possible that they will finally break up the food and tobacco business. That should give you a pop. Though I share your disgust, I vote to hold MO for now.
Floyd

Hi, Dave. Now you've got me thinking negative!
<<In technology and investing in Latin American banks or internet stocks there is the distinct possibility that the stock will go to zero.>>

Earlier this year, I started an AIM account in a Latin American Bank! Yikes!! Your mention of this particular sector prompted me to add BANCO FRANCES DELRIO DE PLATA (BFR) to my web site. I started AIMing this one on January 11 of this year, purchasing 500 shares at 19 3/4. I had three more buys as the stock sank to 16 1/4. Now we are up to 26 1/4, and the account is showing a 32% return. If you or anybody else is interested in viewing the trading history of BFR, just check out my site at:
elnet.com
and scroll down to the first stock (BFR) and click on the symbol. I purchased this one from a recommendation I received in a newsletter I have been getting for the last 5 or 6 years, and after examining the chart, I decided that this would be a pretty good Lichello stock. Time of course will tell. By the way, the site is currently written in English, but I can translate it to Elmer Fudd if you want! <g>

Sincerely,
RFH
