Lightbridge is a recent IPO by Cowen, Montgomery and Prudential. It is a software-based telecom services company which allows wireless carriers to improve their customer acquisition and retention processes.

It is a play on the increasingly competitive wireless markets. As carriers encounter increased competition from alternative methods (PCS & ESMR) in terms of 1) costs of acquiring customers 2) declining revenues per subscriber 3) increasing losses from subscription fraud etc..., they increasingly need to outsource services/solutions to qualify and activate customers.
