1. He's back. No one can keep him buried for very long -- Yeshua ben Yusuf -- known somehow to billions as Jesus Christ, but for us without direct communication with god, a simple carpenter, who was converted in his thirties, preached, was executed, and of whom no acknowledged fragment is available. He wrote nothing, except something in the sand. He didn't publish, and perished. All the attention has been focused on a fantasy -- the alleged only begotten son of god -- but nothing can be proved. Even the post-mortem writings about Jesus give little guidance as to who Jesus actually was.
2. Who was Jesus? Who was his genetic father and mother. Were either of them provable descendants of King David? Where was he born? Where did he grow up? Was he literate? Married? Homosexual? Did he have any children? Did he belong to the Nazareth Carpenters Guild? What did he read?
3. I welcome any historian, social scientist, linguist, or talented amateur to contribute to this thread. By intention, it has nothing to do with the Christian or any other religion. Belief in a religion does not bar you from this thread, but we are interested here in facts. Please don't clutter it with idle speculation and belief. It is perferctly okay to derive possible facts from scripture, but each must be subjected to the test of probability. For instance, is it more likely that Jesus cursed a fig tree to death in an afternoon or that someone who was not there thought it was a pleasant tale?
4. I am not, and I assume no good-faith contributer is, interested in ridiculing Christian religion. There are better places for that (Like "Jesus," and "Ask God!" We are seriously, skeptical, scholarly students of Jesuology here. All are welcome to contribute to building as complete a picture as possible of "Jesus the Man!"
