I'd like this thread to gather information
regarding stocks that are possible takeover
candidates, as well as phase 2 takeover arb plays.
I.E. speculation on the difference of the takeover
price and market price.
I'd like to introduce Carter-Wallace (CAR-NYSE)
as the first possible takeover candidate. The co.
has had two bids by Mr. Marvin Davis at $18 and
$20 rebuffed by controlling management. Rumors are
swirling again after Business Week article by
Gene Marcial of a higher bid coming from an unnamed
English co. My guesses would be Unilever (Dutch)
or Grand Met. or BAT Ind. Price in article stated
in the 20's. Whachathink?
