I'd like this thread to gather information regarding stocks that are possible takeover candidates, as well as phase 2 takeover arb plays. I.E. speculation on the difference of the takeover price and market price. I'd like to introduce Carter-Wallace (CAR-NYSE) as the first possible takeover candidate. The co. has had two bids by Mr. Marvin Davis at $18 and $20 rebuffed by controlling management. Rumors are swirling again after Business Week article by Gene Marcial of a higher bid coming from an unnamed English co. My guesses would be Unilever (Dutch) or Grand Met. or BAT Ind. Price in article stated in the 20's. Whachathink? | ||||||||||||
