Viisage Technology makes systems used by public agencies to produce fraud- and tamper-resistant picture ID cards. Six states (Arizona, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, and Ohio) and the US Immigration and Naturalization Service employ Viisage systems at 450 sites to make driver's licenses, pistol permits, prison and immigration cards, and other cards. The agencies use the company's hardware and software to make digital records of facial images, fingerprints, and other information and store them directly in the card (as an image, barcode, or magnetic stripe) and in a central database. The company is a spinoff of Lau Technology, which retains a 2/3 interest. | ||||||||||||||
