Special Devices, Incorporated

Special Devices makes pyrotechnic devices that are used in car air bag systems, military aircraft ejection seats, and in tactical missile systems. The company's products include arm fire devices, detonators, initiators, pressure cartridges, pyrotechnic loading machines, and pyrotechnic valves. Special Devices has about 40% of the US air bag initiator market (ranking it 2nd, behind OEA). About 60% of the company's revenue comes from sales to air bag maker TRW. The company also owns Scot, Inc., a maker of military aircraft crew escape and life support pyrotechnic products.
