COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Oct. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- ACI Micro Systems, Inc. (ACI) a wholly owned subsidiary of American General Ventures, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: AMGV) to supply Wal-mart with build-to-order PC's In the rapidly growing build-to-order computer retail business, Wal-Mart announced that is entering the arena, carrying a line of attractively priced PC's, built by ACI Micro out of Colorado Springs. While keeping inventories and sales cost to a minimum, the build-to-order model is maturing, particularly to corporate buyers. A recent Business Week article stated approximately 5.5 million PC's will be sold by manufacturers in the U.S. in 1997 up from 1.4 million in 1993. The build to order strategy over the Internet has made Dell Computer Corporation the industry's hottest and fastest growing company. This system allows the company to sell a customized configuration for every buyer and sell its PC's below retail prices. Just recently the nations largest computer retailer joined the fray. On September 17, the $4.6 billion CompUSA Inc, (NYSE:CPU) launched its own BTO PC business. Says CompUSA's president James F Halpin, ''There's a big pull toward build-to-order, and that's the only arena we aren't playing in, it's time to go after that market'' Wal-Mart Online (www.wal-mart.com) features the ACI computer system made by American General Ventures Inc., (OTC Bulletin Board: AMGV). The systems are features in the ''Hot Buy'' section and in its electronics/telephones product category, under ''computer hardware.'' Since the online store opened in 1996, the product selection has expanded to more than 450,000 items. Currently, Wal-Mart Online offers products in 30 main categories ranging from Computers to fresh flowers. American General Ventures, the supplier of Wal-Mart's computers, recently announced that they doubled their normal weekly sales volume of PC computer systems and is capable of producing 1000 systems per day. The activity was due to the increased consumer traffic on Wal-Mart's homepage. American General Ventures Inc. has been publicly held for nearly 12 years.
