Communications Corporation of America Shares Outstanding: 10 Million Float: 2.3 Million web sites: comcorpamerica.com ent.net allstate-telecom.com This company owns 6, and soon to be 7, different companies in the communications arena, each of which is briefly described below. Anyone interested in sharing research about this company without hyping or bashing it is welcome on this thread. 1) Allstate Telecom Corp. - Supplier and national distributor of smart pay telephone products/parts/peripherals. Also markets internet hardware including routers, hubs, and switches and will be a Cisco certified reseller by year end. Had sales of over $2 million in 1997. 2) Alcazar LTD. - Independant pay telephone owner/operator in New York Tri state area. Has 5 year agreement with Crescent Public Phones/AMNEX Inc. 3) Ascot Communications, Inc. - Internet service provider and paging service provider in New York/New Jersey area. Going to be Tier 1 provider in upstate New York which apparently has only 2 other providers, one of which is AOL. Had over $500K revenues over the last year. Has acquired a building in which they will be hosting servers in Long Island. 4) One Plus Communications - Long distance reseller and pre-paid cellular national wholesale distributor of hardware and air time. 5) Telecom Equity Corp. - Investment company which focuses on other internet and communications companies. 6) Travelers Communication Products, Inc. - Distributes communication products associated with cable and satellite services. Did $750K in sales in the first half of 98 and is projected to do over $2 million by year end. 7) Travelers Entertainment Services - Letter of intent has been signed to acquire this company on or before Sept 1. This company provides pay-per-view feature and adult entertainment service to about 7500 hotel rooms, and has contracts to provide these services for at least 5 years. This service is currently provided using a standard video tape system. Communications Corp wants to use their communications technology and experience to convert the install base of Travelers Entertainment to a digital download on demand based system that uses a PC and a T1 line. They want to then greatly expand the install base and associated revenue. A standard video tape system is not cost effective for hotels that have less than 150 rooms, plus the selection is highly limited. The current unserved market for a digital based system is believed by the company to be about 1.9 million rooms, with no significant competition. The average revenue per room will be about $10 per month, with the company retaining about 70% of that after hotel commissions and feature royalties. | ||||||||||||||
