Like many Internet businesses, Ticketmaster Online has taken the parent company's original mission statement and applied it to the Internet. Investors who are familiar with Ticketmaster are aware of the company's virtual lock on the ticket market. Thanks to a strong brand name and the backing of Barry Diller and his USA Networks (NASDAQ: USAI), the online division has exploded in-line with recent Internet usage. Tickets sold in the first 8-months of 1998, rocketed 222%, to 1,848,000, from 574,000 last year.
