Introduction Market Data Compact

AutoNation is America's largest auto retailer.

AutoNation recently changed its symbol to AN from RII to signal the Company's intent to make the ''AutoNation'' brand the pre-eminent national retail name in automotive sales, service and rental.

AN's retail strategy incorporates the Internet with its AutoNation megastores and financial services. It also consists of franchised vehicle dealerships.

AN's auto rental strategy is prominent with strong names such as National car rental, Alamo and CarTemps.

For 1998 Revenues rose 76% and EPS 97%. AN has a stock repurchase strategy to help its current depressed stock price.

Could AN be one of the greatest '99 long term holds before the next millenium?
