On 12/23/99, Register.com filed for an IPO. The company provides domain name registrations and other 'value-added' services related to establishing a web identity for businesses and individuals. This a field dominated by Network Solutions & has small competitors such as Verio, NetNames, and NameSecure. The listed underwriters (particularly Wit Capital) suggests retail investors will get a somewhat large IPO allocation.
