Reliant Resources, Inc.

Serving up its juice with a transatlantic flavor, Reliant Resources provides energy in US and European deregulated markets. The company, which operates under the Reliant Energy brand, has a generating capacity of more than 22,000 MW in the US and the Netherlands. Reliant Resources trades and markets wholesale energy commodities; it also provides competitive retail power supply services to 1.5 million customers in Texas. The company plans to sell its telecom operations, but it has canceled plans to sell its Dutch plants. It expanded by acquiring Orion Power Holdings in 2002. Reliant Resources was formed in 2000 by CenterPoint Energy (formerly Reliant Energy), which spun off it's 83% in the company in 2002.
