In 15 years on SI, the smart folks here have directed me to so many things I wouldn't have discovered otherwise. Software, movies, wines, recipes, web sites, stocks, products, breed of dog, place to live, attitude, beach, yoga position, golf course, National Park ..... just about anything you can imagine.

So... I was thinking a "best of" web site might be helpful. It might help SI people find things they didn't know they wanted, but are so good that they enrich their lives.

Post anything, as long as you sincerely feel its the best in that category. Give the reasons, or not. Feel welcome to include multiple caveats, "the best wine from $9 to $13 not from France or California with a cork and a pretty label".

My hope is that folks will try something really, really great, and spread the word to the community, and we all benefit.

This will be a moderated thread to avoid advocates getting into pissing matches, which will cause bans. The thread is intended as a resource, a modern Whole Earth Catalog of good things.
