Introduction Compact

This thread will be used to discuss, evaluate, and predict GDP growth, short interest rates, inflation, and employment rates. The goal of the discussion is to provide a macroeconomic perspective to aid portfolio allocation. A monthly economic review and outlook will be published based on the information discussed and developed within the thread.

As much as possible, discussions should be grounded in an objective evaluation of verifiable data. Obscure data or data that runs counter to conventional wisdom shall be adequately sourced. Inferences developed from the data shall be bounded by a well articulated theory. Normative discussions, i.e. “what ought to be”, are discouraged.

Our endeavor is to “do it right” and to “get it right”, that is to efficiently produce information that aids individual investors in their portfolio optimization efforts.
