I am starting this thread specifically to start a discussion on the use of computer software as a tool to screen, select, and time stock purchases for profit. I think with the ready availability of computers and software for this purpose, I think this is one area of investing that should not be overlooked by any serious investor. I have several questions which I hope will initiate a discussion on this topic: 1) What is THE BEST software program available for generating charts, screening all stocks according to specific criteria, and performing various technical analysis functions? 2) For those of you who are using software already, what specific preprogrammed parameters have you found to be MOST USEFUL in predicting SHORT TERM, and long term price movements? I am most interested in predicting short term price movements, including intra-day price movements. 3) What is the best software available for screening stocks according to fundamental analysis principles? Is there software available that can integrate fundamental analysis and technical analysis principleS in terms of stock screening, and market timing. 4) I have been informed that Metastock Pro 5.11 from Equis International is the best software available for performing technical analysis functions. It retails for about USD 495. I am considering purchasing this software. Is it a good choice? Comments? | ||||||||||||
