To: All I just received this E-Mail concerning a $.10 charge Per Minute for Internet users. At $.10/min. X 60 min. X 8 hr. X 5 days X 4 weeks= $240.00 a month. On top of regular charges. This type of Tax/Fee would decrease the amount of time some people could spend on the Net. Anyone who uses this forum and/or trades stocks via the Internet should be aware. It would also accomplish "Regulation" of "who" would be able to use this media of communication. Please write or E-Mail your Congressperson and also the people in the following letter. This E-Mail was from the Stockman forum: Subject: Phone Charge for Internet Use Leroy, There is a bill around that would allow local phone co's to charge by the minute targeted right at internet users. Please pass this to your members. ========================================= VERY IMPORTANT Your local telephone company has filed a proposal with the FCC to impose per minute charges for your internet service. (Suggestions say 10 cents per minute) They contend that your usage has or will hinder the operation of the telephone network. Internet usage will greatly diminish if users were required to pay additional per minute charges. The FCC has created an email box for your comments, responses must be received by February 13, 1997. Send your comments to isp@fcc.gov and tell them what you think. Senator Kay Hutchison is a member of the Commerce Committee, which oversees the FCC and telecommunications in general. She can be e-mailed at: senator@hutchison.senate.gov You can also send a FREE FAX to your representative in Washington through the following web site: igc.apc.org ( Phone numbers and e-mail listed as well ) Please forward this message on to anyone who cares about America's transition into the Information Age.
